Two men who attempted to steal a Toyota Hiace minibus in broad daylight, were arrested and charged after they were spotted in the act on surveillance cameras.

The men, Paul Scott, 39, a higgler of a Fletcher's Land address and David King, otherwise called 'Shirt', a 30-year-old higgler of a Gregory Park, St Catherine address, have both been charged with attempted larceny.

Parked

THE STAR was told that on August 8, about 11:30 a.m., the complainant parked his Toyota Hiace at the National Housing Trust's multi-level car park, and went to transact business. When he returned, he was told by security guards on duty, that two men were allegedly caught inside his vehicle. Scott, was reportedly caught inside the vehicle, while King was allegedly keeping guard. The men were caught in the act by the security guards who were monitoring surveillance tapes.

Quick action

Quick action by the security guards resulted in the men's arrests.

Investigating officer, Constable Gosford Daley, is warning motorists to be vigilant when parking their vehicles. He also issued a warning for car thieves and said, "We are warning all these would-be thieves to stay away from the St Andrew Central Division, as, if they are caught, they will be dealt with according to law."
