Portsmouth top U-13 football standing

Portsmouth surged to the top of the standings in the Linford Jones Under-13 football league following a 4-2 win over Cumberland at the Cumberland playing field on Wednesday.

Cardel Benbow took his tally to four goals for the season, scoring a brace for Cumberland.

Portsmouth are now on maximum nine points from three games, the same as AS Roma, who got three points without kicking a ball as Passagefort United failed to show. Portsmouth lead Roma on goal difference.

The top two are followed by Cumberland (3), and Passagefort United (3), while Waterford and Hellshire United occupy the bottom of the standings with a point each.

In the other games played Wednesday, Waterford and Hellshire drew 0-0.

On Monday, AS Roma had an exciting 2-1 victory over Cumberland. Shamar Hibbert, and Delgardo Gardner scored for A.S. Roma, while, Racheem Small (penalty) got Cumberland's goal.

In the day's opener Portsmouth tagged Hellshire United 2-0, while, Passagefort United edged Waterford 2-1. Tevin Peart and Steve Wilson were on target for the victors. Romario Thompson netted Waterford's goal.

The competition continues on Monday with three matches: Portsmouth vs A.S. Roma 12:30 p.m., Cumberland vs Waterford 1:45 pm, Passagefort United vs Hellshire United 3 p.m.
