Beenie Man sizzles for only 14 minutes

Dwight Nelson, Star Writer

Beenie Man, promoter of the Summer Sizzle stage show held on the grounds of the Jamalco Sports Complex on Wednesday night, was only afforded 14 minutes on the stage.

Police personnel from the Clarendon Division, led by Superintendent Patrick Murdock, put an abrupt stop on the event on Thursday morning at 6:24.

Summer Sizzle, which was scheduled to kick off at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, got off to a late start at 11 p.m.

cops swarm stage

At 6:10 a.m. on Thursday, when Beenie Man took the stage with the venue still jam-packed, a contingent of police officers swarmed the backstage area. Five minutes into his performance, a senior police personnel approached Beenie Man onstage to claim the microphone. The artiste begged for a few more minutes while the crowd pleaded for the performance to continue.

However, the police eventually pulled the plug to end Beenie Man's performance. Everyone left the venue very disappointed, not seeing a full performance from Beenie Man, although they were treated with a very entertaining line-up.
