Mucho Gusto returns for unfinished business

Jimmie, Star Racing Writer

MUCHO GUSTO, who was outfinished by the out-of-class MUSICAL MAESTRO and ACCOMPONG on August 1, returns quickly for a crack at Open Allowance runners tomorrow afternoon and should start favourite for the 1100-metre eighth race.

Bidding for a hat-trick of wins, up-in-class MUCHO GUSTO chased GOOD CITIZEN into the lane but was a bit heavy with 57.0 kilos and lacked the finishing power of MUSICAL MAESTRO, who burst through the pack inside the final furlong.

ACCOMPONG, closing from off the pace, narrowly relegated MUCHO GUSTO to third close home.

MUCHO GUSTO returns fighting fit and must be the horse to beat, eased in the scale, at 55.0 kilos, with no GOOD CITIZEN or MUSICAL MAESTRO around in an easier line-up.

Instead, it will be the speedy RIGMAROLE, who MUCHO GUSTO easily put away at 1200 metres on July 5, as well as MINISTEROFFINANCE, who returns hunting back-to-back victories after winning down-in-class, beating Overnight Allowance runners on July 19.

RIO INFINITO is back, also hunting a quick double, after chasing and beating MR SKILL into third last Saturday. However, she's also up in class and had beaten a fast-stopping MR SKILL.

In addition, she was overpowered by MINISTEROFFINANCE at 1200 metres, proving that whereas MR SKILL was slowing down off the turn, MUCHO GUSTO and company will be digging in for the entire stretch run.

NASATOL, who closed into a close fourth, beaten three-quarter length, behind MUCHO GUSTO on July 5, has his work cut out by the reduction in journey.

RIGMAROLE should again carry the splits with RIO INFINITO chasing and MUCHO GUSTO moving as a team with MINISTEROFFINANCE before pouncing in the stretch run.

MUCHO GUSTO doesn't have the best of draws, post position one, but it's a small field, which should be strung out, ensuring he doesn't get bogged along the rail.

Track Price Plus Pick-6 players should look to PLEASURE FLIGHT, KLASSICAL ROCK, MARKET BRIDLE, CLOSE-TOPERFECT and CHOSEN ONE as key horses.

PLEASURE FLIGHT races out of a new barn, Dennis Lee, after disputing the lead to the half-mile with the big horses in the Derby.

Prior to that run, he was a convincing winner at a mile, racing out of Garrett Arscott's stable on July 2, beating subsequent winner GOOD HOPE by all of five lengths.

Should he return in similar form, PLEASURE FLIGHT, with Kevin Blake's three-kilo claim, should dispute the earlies with I'M MAGIC before taking charge to outstay the filly at a mile.

Philip Feanny's two-year-old, KLASSICAL ROCK, should go one better at 1000 metres round after being outsped at 600 metres straight on his July 26 debut behind MAN OF STEEL.

MARKET BRIDLE gets the nod over PRINCESS NESSA in the fourth at 1400 metres, considering the filly stopped, as if shot, at 1100 metres last Friday when caught by MISS TWIST. Prior to that, she was caught and beaten by ROAD BLOCK, a big upsetter, over 1300 metres in a time of 1:22.4.

Everton Bennett's four-kilo claim aboard MARKET BRIDLE plus his narrow loss at 1400 metres, in a time of 1:28.4, to DANIELLE MY GIRL, suggests PRINCESS NESSA should not escape in the lane.
