Stick to coffee - drug dealer told

WESTERN BUREAU

A St Ann coffee farmer was fined $5,800 after pleading guilty to drug-related charges in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Anthony Cann was slapped with charges of possession and dealing in ganja after he was seen walking towards the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay with a bag containing ganja.

Going to sell it

He told the court that he was going to sell the contraband.

"Stick to coffee," was the advice RM Winsome Henry gave him before handing down her sentence.

Cann was fined $2,600 for possession and $3,200 for dealing. If the fines are not paid, he will serve 30 days in custody on each charge. The sentences will run consecutively.

The facts are that the investigating officer was driving along Queen's Drive, in Montego Bay, when she saw Cann walking towards the airport with a bag on his back. He was stopped and his bag searched and ganja weighing two pounds was recovered from his bag.
