A woman, who lived with her husband in his house for 10 years, is now being forced to leave the premises.
She said her husband died three months ago and his relatives are now ordering her to leave the house. She said they were married for 10 years and she had been living at the house from the time that they got married.
"My husband made a will 12 years ago, leaving his house to two sisters and two brothers," the woman said.
Old will
She explained that her husband was
married before, but the marriage did not produce any children. She said he always told her that he was going to make a will so that, in the event of his death, she would continue to live at the house and when she died, the property would go to his relatives.
"Well, my husband did not make the will as he had promised and I was shocked to see that after he died, one of his relatives came to the house with a will that was made 12 years ago.
"The relatives say they want to sell the property and I should move from the house. They say that as soon as the will is probated, the property will be sold because they have a buyer for it. I cannot afford to pay rent because I am a pensioner and my pension is very small," the woman added.
You should consult a lawyer immediately about the issue because the will can be revoked.
Section 13 of the Wills Act states in part that "every will made by a man or woman shall be revoked by marriage" and states the exception under which it cannot be revoked.
