Did you tell your boyfriend that you are HIV positive, or did you just suggest that he should wear a condom? From the tone of your letter, you did not inform him that you are HIV positive. He just thinks you have another man in your life.

May I suggest that you call him and tell him the truth. Don't inform him by text or letter. Do so face to face or by phoning him.
