We have a lot in common

Twins, Fabian and Kadeen Williams. - Contributed

When the STAR sat down to talk with Kadeen and Fabian Williams, it was soon made clear that they shared a special bond.

Kadeen, 24, is older by about five minutes and is more outgoing than her brother. She describes the relationship she has with her brother as very close.

"He is my best friend. We talk about everything; family, friends school, work and relationships. It is good to have someone to share things with you from a male perspective."

Kadeen and Fabian, who live in Linstead, St Catherine attended the same schools until high school.

Difficult separation

According to Kadeen, the separation was particularly difficult as she wasn't able to spend as much time with her brother as she was accustomed to.

"I went to Charlemont High, in St Catherine, and he went to Calabar in Kingston, so when I got up in the mornings he wasn't there, and when I came home he wasn't there either, so in the nights, when he got home, we would spend hours trying to make up for the day."

Fabian, on the other hand recalled another separation, when Kadeen went overseas. Like her, he described the separation as difficult.

Panic

"When we were 18 years old, Kadeen went to the United States for the summer, and I spent a lot of money on phonecards, just so I would not miss anything that happened to her. At one point, our mother started to panic when we did not hear from her for a while, but I could tell that she was OK."

With a smile on her face, Kadeen also remembered a time when Fabian went out and had their mother worrying, but like Fabian, she assured her mother that nothing was wrong with him.

"Our connection was stronger when we were younger. I remember that if I was sick one week, he got sick the next. But as we got older that changed."

When asked to describe her brother, Kadeen replied without hesitating that, "he is very miserable."

Fabian had the same thing to say about her.

"That is one of the things we have in common, but she is way more miserable than I am, but the good thing about arguing is that we have never been upset with each other for more than three hours."

Although the two have older siblings, a brother and a sister, they both agreed that life would not be the same without each other and the special bond they share.

"I have never imagined what it would be like to have a twin sister instead of a brother. My older sister and I are already close and so I don't think I would have preferred having a sister," said Kadeen.

On the other hand, Fabian admitted that he has thought about having a twin brother.

"The only thing I would like about having a twin brother is that we could trade places and cause mischief, other than that I could never imagine life without Kadeen."
