Jamaica's Luton Shelton - file
Reggae Boy Luton Shelton has completed a move away from English Championship division team Sheffield United to Norwegian premier league outfit Valerenga for a transfer fee of £1 million.
The 22-year-old Jamaican international, moved to Sheffield away from Swedish Premier League team Helsingborg for £1.85 million in January of last year, but has struggled to impress the teams coaches since then.
Shelton, who had an impressive showing while in the Swedish Premier League had moved to Sheffield, with the hope of playing in the English top flight, but was only able to do so briefly as the team was relegated soon after he joined.
Last season in 21 appearances for the Blades and only seven starts Shelton scored four goals. The most memorable of the four being against Manchester City, which saw the goalkeeper unsighted by several balloons that were on the pitch at the time.
In 27 appearances for the national team, Shelton has 20 goals. This includes a hat-trick against The Bahamas in Jamaica's last World Cup qualifier. Shelton will now be one of four Jamaicans plying their trade in Norway. The striker will join Khari Stephenson, who recently signed for Tippeligaen outfit Aalesund, while both Oniel Thompson and Fabian Taylor play for Norwegian first division team Nottenden.
