Kingfish pins murder charge

Operation Kingfish has charged one man with the murder of three persons in Allman Town in central Kingston on May 28.

The suspect, Anthony Smith, also called 'Max', was charged recently after he was detained on June 30.

Smith was reportedly pointed out by witnesses during an identification parade and subsequently charged for the murders of 36-year-old Margarita Campbell, 23-year-old Kemarley Holness and Lenroy Moreland, also 23.

Three other persons were shot and injured in the incident.

Smith appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday and was remanded until July 29 when the case will be mentioned again.

Police reports are that a group of persons was standing along Prince of Wales Street, near Heroes Circle, when a white car with several men aboard drove up.

The men reportedly alighted from the vehicle and pulled guns, opening opened fire on the group, hitting six persons.

They were rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital where Campbell, Holness and Moreland were pronounced dead and the others admitted in serious condition.
