Dear Pastor,
I am a 22-year-old woman and I got myself into something that has been worrying me.
I am wondering if I did the right thing. I went online on a pen-pal site and I found a really nice guy. We have been talking for six months now and he decided that he is coming here to visit me for one week. The problem is that he is white but he says he loves me, and I really love him too. He has all the good qualities that a girl wants in a man.
Do you think I should spend a week with him alone, because that's the plan? He is going to be here soon and I don't know what to do.
K.B., St Catherine, Jamaica
Dear K.B.,
I am not going to encourage you to spend a week with a man you met online, whether black or white. I have seen many women used by men they met online or through friends.
These men come to Jamaica for one thing only and that is to have a good time with them.
The guys promise them marriage (and some, indeed, marry them), but when the vacation is over, they don't hear from them again. Many of these guys are up to their necks in debts. They are broke and many are liars.
Protect yourself. What is so good about this man? Is it a green card you are looking? Don't do anything you will regret.
Pastor
