Bounty will not 'Sizzle'

Leighton Levy, Freelance Writer

Bounty Killer - File

It does not seem as if Beenie Man is going to get his wish to have Bounty Killer perform at Beenie Man Sizzle '08 on Independence Day.

The show that is to feature a multitude of Jamaica's top dancehall and reggae acts including Beenie Man's estranged wife D'Angel, Macka Diamond, Mr Vegas, Capleton, Voice Mail, Assassin and Queen Ifrica, among others, is to be to held at the Jamalco Sports Club in Clarendon on August 6.

Last week, 'The Doctor' had extended an invitation to Bounty Killer and Mavado to attend and perform. "Mi really want Mavado on the show and it woulda nice if Killer come too," he said then.

Yesterday, Bounty Killer's manager, Julian Jones-Griffith, shot down any chance of both invitees attending Beenie Man's Sizzle. "He's got another engagement that same night," Jones-Griffth told THE STAR. When pressed for details on where Bounty Killer would be performing on the night of August 6, Jones-Griffith would only offer that his artiste would be performing "overseas".

He also declined to comment on whether Bounty Killer would ever consider performing on a subsequent staging of the show that Beenie Man last week described as a celebration of his achievements.

Beenie Man also said last week that he had attended Bounty Killer's Saddle to the East on four occasions and it would have been nice of the Killer to reciprocate. "A four love mi gone pan him," he said.

Cabel Jeffrey Stephenson of Free People Entertainment, promoters of the show, had said last week that if Bounty or any other member of the Bounty Killer-led Alliance - which includes Mavado, Busy Signal, Wayne Marshall and other artistes - showed up, they would be well catered for.
