Man stabs sister for bad manners?

Guy Jones felt that his sister was ill mannered, so what did he do? Allegedly, he stabbed her.

Jones, who pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful wounding, appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday. He is accused of using a knife to stab his sister because she was "lacking in manners".

"Your honour, every day she coming to my house and don't even have the courtesy to say 'good morning' or 'good evening'," the accused said. He further continued: "One day I see her come there and do the same thing, so I tell har fi come out a mi house and then I saw her with a knife, so I went to take it from her and she got cut," said Jones.

When Resident Magistrate Glen Brown asked the complainant for her report on the matter, she told the court: "From last October, your honour, we have not been on speaking terms and I try to avoid him every way. He is the one who does not respond when I say 'good morning' or 'good evening'."

The complainant went on to say that she normally goes to the house to visit the accused man's wife because she just had a baby. "One particular morning, he attacked me, saying I must come out of his house because I have no manners and I went outside in my car ... . He followed me, I had a knife in my hand that I was using to clean something in my car. He grabbed the knife and stabbed me in the leg and scraped my chin."

In response, RM Glen Brown addressed the matter by simply asking Jones to reconcile with his sister, "You find a way to talk back to your sister before I sentence you, okay? You should be wearing the dress, you are behaving like a girl, following up argument."

He is scheduled to reappear in court on August 8.
