The Constant Spring police are appealing to residents of Oaklands Apartments to come forward with any information they might have surrounding the death of Nordia Mitchell, who died in the apartment complex yesterday.
Mitchell, 28, was found dead in the complex yesterday morning. Her body was found with bruises and signs of physical injury, confirming reports that the woman had been involved in a physical altercation with her male companion.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Carol McKenzie, of the Constant Spring Police Station, told the STAR that, "We are really appealing though for residents to come forward and tell us what they heard or saw, as this will certainly assist us with the investigations."
He added that, based on investigations so far, the police were sill uncertain about what took place.
"There is no verification or evidence that the woman's body was thrown from a window. The police is not yet clear on what happened. A post-mortem is currently being done, and a man turned himself over to the police and is now being questioned in the presence of his lawyer," said DSP McKenzie
He added, "I must say there is gross inaccuracy in the reports that the woman's body was thrown from the window, the police have no evidence to support that and we are making no assumptions."
The police added that members of the Victim Support Unit were asked to counsel the family members and friends of the deceased.
