A 26-year-old bus driver, accused of being involved with a 14-year-old, was granted bail when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
The court heard that on June 26, Omar Morrison allegedly took the complainant to a premises in the Constant Spring area and had sex with her. It is further alleged that the juvenile left home on June 26, claiming that she was going to accompany a friend somewhere, and did not return home.
The juvenile was allegedly seen on July 4 by her brother-in-law at the Half-Way Tree Transport Centre. She was taken to the Stadium Police Station where it was discovered that she had been listed as missing. The juvenile is now before the Family Court.
But the attorney representing the accused man said the owner of the bus, which his client drives, is a relative of the juvenile. He said Morrison has seen the child on a number of occasions while plying his route, and told the family.
Senior Resident Magistrate Glen Brown, after hearing the arguments, granted the accused $50,000 bail with surety, and also ordered that his fingerprints be taken. He is to return to court on August 21.
