Fingerprint ordered for alleged fraudster

A woman who was found with a fraudulent birth certificate appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Bethune Seymour is facing charges of possession of a forged document.

The court was told that Seymour recently applied for a British visa. When her documents were being examined, however, a few discrepancies were discovered. The name of her father as well as the date and time of birth were different from the information supplied.

Seymour, however, told the court that she got the certificate through the proper channels. She said she went to the office and applied for the certificate. She, however, explained that she had been waiting a while and was approached by a man who she said was "well dressed" and had proper identification.

Her explanation was, however, cut short by Resident Magistrate Glen Brown who immediately set a new mention date. She is to reappear in court on August 14 and was also ordered to have her fingerprints taken.
