Alleged cop killer shot dead

Dwayne Mcleod, Staff Reporter

What was initially supposed to be a routine patrol by the St Andrew North police yesterday, turned into a deadly shoot-out, which left an alleged cop killer dead.

Dead is 25-year-old Deagron Bryan of a Red Hills Road address.

Police reports are that some time after 7:00 a.m., a police team was carrying out a patrol in sections of the division. Upon reaching a premises along Queensborough Drive, a group of gunmen allegedly opened fire on the policemen.

The police returned the fire and Bryan was hit. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Bryan was said to be linked to Saturday's murder of Detective Inspector Marlon Harper of the Scene of Crime Department.

The inspector was shot dead by gunmen along Moreton Park Terrace, Kingston 10, during what investigators say was a robbery attempt.

Meanwhile, a $1 million reward is being offered by the police for information leading to the arrest of the gunmen behind the weekend slaying of Detective Inspector Marlon Harper.

In a statement Sunday night, the police said the bounty would be paid from the 'Save the Cop Fund' established by the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Persons with information on the killers are being asked to call the Major Investigation Task Force at 924-9848 or 922-5344, Crime Stop at 311 or Operation Kingfish at 811.
