Man's car wrongfully towed by KSAC

Delroy Campbell is quickly reaching the end of his rope. He is annoyed with the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation (KSAC) for what he describes as its hasty action and evasive behaviour.

Campbell told THE STAR that two months ago, on May 14, his Nissan Sunny motor car developed mechanical problems along Grenada Crescent in New Kingston. He said the car became unresponsive and he pushed it out of the road and left it about six inches from the sidewalk. He said he left the hazard lights on.

He continued, "I went to look for some help and I found a taxi man across the road. This process took about seven minutes. By the time I got back to my car, it was on a wrecker." Campbell said he explained the circumstances to the warden and made it known that he had found someone to help him. He said he was told that nothing could be done as the car was already on the wrecker.

Campbell said he went to the pound and paid the fee of $4,000. He said after explaining the situation, he was advised that he could get a refund. As advised, he wrote a letter to the KSAC and was told that he would get back his money as soon as he made the report.

Since then however, he said he has been getting the run around and is yet to receive his money. He said he was told that he would be contacted, but has so far heard nothing.

When THE STAR contacted the KSAC, a representative admitted knowledge of Campbell's case and said the matter was being investigated, but no decision had yet been made.
