The police shot and killed a man who was a suspect in the killing of the late Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) boss Douglas Chambers yesterday and recovered a firearm.
The man was killed when he allegedly engaged members of a police party in a shoot-out.
Kayon Bryan of Jones Avenue, near Spanish Town, was shot and killed about 7 p.m. on Friday.
Reports are that the police were on operation in the area when Bryan and other men shot at them. The police said they returned the fire and the men ran. However, Bryan was found suffering from gunshot wounds. A .38 revolver with spent shells was taken from him.
The police say that they were conducting criminal investigations against the man who is in his 20s in relation to Chambers' death. Chambers was shot and killed on June 27, at the Twickenham Park, JUTC bus depot.
Meanwhile, residents of Jones Avenue are disputing the police claims. They said Bryan was dragged from a wall and shot in cold blood.
