Well-travelled road to ATI

The 'Road to ATI' seems to be paved with high energy as was evident at The Quad last Wednesday night.

Bringing a different vibe to the popular night club weekly, the 'Road to ATI' was held to prepare patrons for the summer weekend in Negril.

With ZJ Johnny Cool creating a retro vibe in the Oxygen Nightclub, and ZJ Liquid alongside Bloodline in the Voodoo Lounge, patrons were treated to a mixed bag of music.

Not to be left out, downstairs Christopher's Jazz Café was also buzzing with activity as persons sat talking and drinking heartily.

The University crowd was out mingling with the older generation as Johnny Cool kept it strictly retro with Lady Saw songs, which had persons 'flinging it up' as he encouraged, "ladies gimme di wine when yuh know a man a watch yuh body".

Upstairs at the Voodoo Lounge one of the resident Quad disc jocks maintained a steady vibe with rap music. The Voodoo Lounge had a slightly younger crowd which was ready to party. However a sudden switch to techno music had a few persons crying out "a wha dis?"

While some persons got into the techno vibe, most sighed with relief when the selector took them back to rap music. After 2 a.m. the long awaited arrival of ZJ Liquid saw a change in the vibe as he tickled the women with songs from Mariah Carey, Chris Brown and Keyshia Cole.

Couples were soon snapping their fingers and cranking that 'souljah boy' as Liquid dropped a mad mix of Konshens' Winner and Kartel's Money Fi Spend.

Liquid was soon joined by Bloodline with Supa Hype creating a 'hype' over the microphone. Supa Hype soon acknowledged the 'fastest man in the world', sprinter Usain Bolt who was partying the night away.

Deejay Bounty Killer made an entrance with his large entourage and Supa hailed the deejay saying "Killer yuh a real bad man, mi rate yuh."

A few minutes later Bounty Killer's musical rival Beenie Man and his large entourage also made an appearance.

Supa Hype and DJ Narity from Bloodline had the crowd going as they dropped songs to match the latest dances Tek Weh Yuhself and Gully Creeper before he reminded everyone why they were there. "Negril we coming ... what happens in Negril stays in Negril," he said.

The road to Negril is looking up as patrons show their support for the upcoming party weekend.
