Portlanders crave Magnum road show

The Portland leg of the magnum tonic wine dancehall king and queen road show, held at Folly oval on Saturday, June 28, was heavily supported by a near capacity crowd.

Thousands converged on the playfield, not only to witness the performance of dancehall male king, Singer Jack, and queen Baby Tash, but also to consume the magnum energy drink.

And were they in for a treat, as associate sponsors Brunswick also displayed its newest product additions, Vienna sausage, hot 'n' spicy, and chicken Vienna sausage. But the surprise did not stop there, as Axe also took the opportunity to showcase its wide array of perfumes primarily for men, aimed at attracting women.

CONFIDENCE BOOST

Baby Tash, whose real name is Tashon Williams, told THE STAR just before her performance that she is presently working on a soon to be released music single. Tash, an employee at Sandals Montego Bay, also said that since winning the magnum competition her confidence level has risen, which is now a valuable asset to her.

On the other hand Singer Jack was adamant that enough was still not being done to curve the negative and lewd lyrics by some artistes. He said the message being sent by some reggae artistes was having a negative effect on the youths who are being misled.

He noted that only positive messages should be sent, which will reduce the level of crime among youths, who tend to absorb what they hear.

The crowd was also kept busy all night by the hilarious but professional duet of master of ceremony, Pretty Boy Floyd and Miss kitty, who kept the Portland crowd alive with gimmicks. And as expected backing sound system, Stone Love movements, provided quality entertainment.

Miss Kitty also took time out to commend the sponsors including THE STAR, who continue to provide quality coverage for its performers and road shows.

She also lauded the efforts of Tru Juice for its tasty and nutritious refreshments.
