Ward 21 has been offering a new rhythmic vibe as their rhythms have been attracting special themes.
They, however, confess that these 'theme rhythms' were created simply by a vibe in the studio.
Andre 'Sukku' Grey, a member of Ward 21, says the themes were not planned but created within the studio. He says, "Each name (for the rhythm) come up inna di studio off when somebody jus' seh sump'n."
Theme rhythms that the group released are 'Dem Gal Sittin', 'Estrogen' and 'Nineties'.
Dem Gal Sittin was released last November and features 12 female dancehall artistes. Women on the rhythm are Tifa, Timberlee, Natalie Storm, Lady Saw, D'Angel, Stacious, Spice, Macka Diamond, Lady G, Queen Paula, Miss Thing and Ce'Cile.
On the Estrogen rhythm, which is a follow-up to Dem Gal Sittin, the only change is Aisha who replaces Ce'Cile.
Sukku says he created Dem Gal Sittin and Tifa wrote a song for it that suited the rhythm, so he decided to make it one for women.
"When she (Tifa) finish har song somebody seh she sound good and it (rhythm) have a woman vibe, so mi seh a woman ago work good pon it. Mi call it Dem Gal Sittin 'cause a bare woman a work pon it," he said.
He says Kunly, another member of Ward 21, created Estrogen which also represents women.
He noted that it is easier to work with women as their egos are not as big as the men.
"The thing wid women is that dem nuh have a bag a ego so when dem come fi voice wi nuh have no problem. Dem naah go late or give no run around. If dem cyaan mek it dem will call an' tell yuh," he told THE STAR.
He continued, "Dem interested fi work. It rare when you have producers weh open fi work wid females so when dem see dat happen dem happy fi work."
As for the Nineties Rhythm, Sukku says Ward 21 voiced a song on the rhythm and Monster Hemp Higher voiced one as well. He said he was going to call the rhythm 'Mad'.
He said, "Somebody seh it have a 90s groove so mi jus' look fi some artistes weh voice inna di 90s, artistes weh hit inna di 90s...Whether it is a theme rhythm or not, each have a meaning."
Other artistes on the Nineties Rhythm include Buju Banton, Harry Toddler, Mr Easy, Power Man, Elephant Man, Lady Saw, Frisco Kid, Delly Ranx and Innocent Crew.
Sukku says Ward 21 recently released the 'Tear Up Jeans' rhythm and their next release will be the 'Mad Thing' rhythm.
