Jamaican jockey Rajiv Maragh logged four wins in two racedays to sustain his bid for championship honours in Belmont's Spring/Summer meeting.

Maragh, who won twice on Friday, delivered another double on Saturday and is currently joint second in the competitive Belmont season that features some of the world's best jockeys.

With less than a month remaining in the season, Eibar Coa, a Hall of Fame rider at Calder in Florida, leads with 48 wins, while Maragh shares second with Alan Garcia and Cornelio Velasquez with 34 wins.

Garcia won the Belmont Stakes earlier this month with Da'Tara and Velasquez is a two-time Breeders' Cup winning rider.

Also in the title race are John Velasquez and Edgar Prado, who have both won US Triple Crown Series events.

John Velasquez, a former Belmont Stakes winning rider, is currently fifth with 28 wins and Prado, who has Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes triumphs on his log, is in sixth position on 26 wins.

On Friday, Maragh won the US$35,000 fourth race over with Bright Illusion and he also won the US$56,000 eighth race with Senior Rita Lady.

His wins on Saturday came in the first and third races.

Maragh, son of former jockey Collin Maragh, captured Saturday's US$46,000 first race over 1-1/8 miles on turf with the 2-1 favourite Transit of Venus by 2-1/4 lengths in 1:46.80.

He then landed the US$47,000 third race over 1-1/16th miles on turf with Who Is Lady (4-1) by three quarters of a length in 1:42.59 for his 34th win of the season.

In the afternoon's main event, the US$250,000 New York Stakes, Maragh rode the 7-1 shot Hostess into third spot in a very close finish.

Kent Desormeaux drove the 3-5 favourite Mauralakana to victory by a neck over Dynaforce under John Velasquez, with Maragh only a further neck back in third.
