ACCOMPONG, POWER CRACKER and MR BUTCHER can be used as bankers by punters chasing tomorrow's massive Pick-9 carryover of $8.65m.
The elusive Pick-9 stumped bettors at the death on Derby Day when BALLROOM DANCER struck at 64-1 in the day's final event, knocking out all bets.
Tomorrow's Pick-9 starts at the third event with the more challenging races at the backend of the 12-race card.
However, keen analysis of the later races could save punters cash and the lure of padding those events.
ACCOMPONG appears to be a risky bet with his bad habit of giving away lengths at the start but has all of 1700 metres to track and beat rivals in the Open Allowance event.
The four-year-old colt predictably swerved at the start last time out and paid the price against razor-sharp CHADMAN and GRACE MARIE, who punished him with sustained pace, keeping him third up the lane and to the wire.
However, with the distance increased, ensuring a slower pace, which should have ACCOMPONG closer down the backstretch instead of having to be rushed to catch the field, the fast-finishing colt gets the nod over the very fit GRACE MARIE.
Reporting with 51.0 kilos, ACCOMPONG faces a tough field, which includes top-weight PASSA PASSA and the distance-running pair of CHIPONYOURSHOULDER and FIRSTINTHESAND.
However, ACCOMPONG has them all measured. PASSA PASSA, who won at the level on June 7, has a huge task giving away so much weight at 1700 metres. Her running style dictates that she presses the pace and it is highly unlikely for her to carry this field down the backstretch and hang tough with so much weight.
The 1200-metre Sports Journalists of Jamaica Trophy event looks tailor-made for POWER CRACKER, and the 1500-metre Joshua Morrison Memorial should go to MR BUTCHER.
POWER CRACKER was outsped by SEEDABREEZE at 1400 metres last time out after working like a bomb at exercise. He now faces a milder field, albeit at 1200 metres, and should take charge early at the top of the lane.
MR BUTCHER was simply too tired after two tough losses, asked to run 23 furlongs and 25 yards in one month, and ran an awful race on May 31. Nicely freshened off a three-week lay-up, he should put away older non-winners-of-two at 1500 metres.
Get off to a flying start in the Pick-9 opener with FRONT RUNNER, a nap selection at 1000 metres straight in the third for five-year-old and upward maidens. THE REAL FURY, unraced in more than a year, should go all the way in the fourth after impressing at exercise, clocking 1:01.1 on the round course.
Anthony Nunes' SMILE OUT looks too good on the exercise track to lose the fifth at 1100 metres after galloping six furlongs in 1:15.0 on Monday.
NATURAL HEART is also a good thing after his strong finish second behind FOREVER MINE on Saturday.
