Worried about 'girlfriend'

Dear Pastor,

My husband has a female friend whom he claimed he met about five months ago. He calls her or she calls him almost every day. He said they had never met in person, but she is a young lady who is having problems. I don't know this person and when I confronted him he said there is nothing going on. We've been married for six years. Even though he has constantly told me that she is just a friend, my gut feelings tell me otherwise.

Pastor, what am I to do? I need your advice.

W.N., New York, USA

Dear W. N.,

What you are trying to say is that your husband makes time for this young woman. Evidently, he enjoys her company on the telephone. They will soon meet each other in person. If this woman has problems, she should see a family counsellor. You have a right to be concerned. Tell your husband that he and this woman are too close and they should stop calling each other so often. It is not a matter of being jealous. It is being cautious.

Pastor
