Sts Peter and Paul captured the Surrey section of the Scotia Bank-sponsored Preparatory Schools 25-over-a-side cricket competition, following an exciting 37 runs win over Hydel in the final at Melbourne Oval yesterday.
Sts Peter and Paul who won the toss and elected to take first strike, reached 155 for three from their allotted overs. Saad Ahmad (64), Jeovani Burrell (17) and Elvoy Bennett (13) scored most of the runs for Sts Peter and Paul. Hydel's Jabari Pinnock and Kashane Jones took one wicket each as the other batsman was run out.
In reply, Hydel could only manage 118 for six from their allotted overs as they were restricted by Atishai Mansingh (2-16), Horace Sinclair (1-15) and Andrew Wilkenson (1-16).
Jordan Jones (38), Rushane Crewe (25) and Janai Hardware (15 not out) were the leading scorers for Hydel.
Sts Peter and Paul will now await the completion of the rural competition, to challenge for the all-island title.
