'Sorrowgate'

Dear Pastor,

I am a 40-year-old woman married for four years to a 30-year-old man. Age is not an issue. My dilemma is that my husband does not have any children and is ready to start a family and I would love to have other children.

I have a son from a previous relationship. I was informed many years ago that my tubes were blocked and my only way to conceive would be through In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF).

Unsuccessful

We attempted IVF once before and were unsuccessful. This is our second attempt.

The hospital said that because of my age there is a 10 per cent chance of success. My husband is very concerned about our chances.

My husband does not want to leave me, but if I do not become pregnant what options do we have? He has told me of similar situations where wives have agreed to their partners having a baby mother and still remain happily married.

Pastor, I have a problem with this. I am not used to sharing my man. What should I do? Pray for us that we may be blessed with a child/children.

N., London, England

Dear N.,

I will pray that God will help you to conceive. It would be wonderful if your husband would agree to adopt a very young baby instead of becoming sexually involved with another woman.

It is not going to be easy for you to adjust to him having another woman carrying his child. I ask Christians everywhere to pray for you.

Pastor
