'Hot word, throw word' causes wounding

Kimoni Harris, Staff Reporter

When Shanna-Lee Watson appeared before the Corporate Area Magistrate's Court on Friday she pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful wounding.

The complainant told the court that recently she and Watson had an altercation and Watson used a machete to chop her.

She stated that the argument developed because of a song that she was singing which Watson interpreted to be a "throw word" song.

The complainant also stated that Watson attacked her for no reason, because she was not making any reference to her when she was singing the song.

Resident Magistrate Glen Brown ordered a probation report on Watson and sentencing is set for July 9.
