Dear Pastor,
I have been living abroad for about three years. I recently returned to Jamaica. When I was living in Jamaica, I had a boyfriend. He is still in love with me and anything I want he gives it to me. I mean anything. However, I am not as in love as he is. Even though I am not there we still talk and he sends me a lot of love text messages.
Before I went back to Jamaica I heard he was with a girl. I asked him about it and he denied it. As usual, I knew he was lying.
One evening, I allowed him to come see me after he had asked. Where he wanted to meet me the girl was also there. When he got to the place, he saw her, but I wasn't there as yet. I didn't know she was there either, but I used this opportunity to see if he was going to act strangely. He could not leave because he knew that would have caused a problem between me and him. However, when I got there I started hugging and kissing him. I knew he was worried because she was sitting there looking at us and hearing everything we were talking about.
Several occasions
This happened on several other occasions. I was so happy for the way it happened. That should teach him not to tell lies. Anyway, after that evening he was still denying being with her, so I decided to ask her and she said they were together. So I asked her why was he denying being with her.
The problem is that I told him I knew the truth about him and the girl after she admitted it. So I told him to stay with her. I am all the way overseas, but he refuses to let me go.
I told him I will always be there for him as a friend. I know this girl loves him, but he claims he doesn't love her, he is in love with me. When I tell you that this guy is in love with me, I mean he is in love. His friends and cousin have asked me what I did to him , since we didn't even have sex. I know he sleeps with her, but I know him for over four years now.
Give me up
What should I do to make him give me up and be with someone who is there with him and loves him? I even told him I am going to change my number so he would not contact me anymore, but he says if I leave him, he wouldn't go back to this girl. I know the girl is really heartbroken about this and I know how that feels.
I am a girl too. We have been through a lot, but I know that they have too. I even told him that I am going to talk to her for him and make her try to forgive him, but he says no I am the one he wants and he will wait forever for me. Sometimes I wonder if he is crazy.
Pastor, what must I do? I want him to be happy. Keep up the good work.
A. J., United Kingdom
Dear A. J.,
Tell the man you are not interested anymore. If he continues to call, you may either accept or reject his calls. You know that he is a liar.
He might be trying to hang on because he is hoping you will marry him and he will join you in the United Kingdom.
Pastor
