FIX-IT - Traffic lights turned on

AS PART of our mission to be the People Paper, THE WEEKEND STAR has been highlighting problem areas across the island. Our reporter, Carolyn Johnson, along with photographer Norman Grindley, will focus on a particular area until the problem is fixed. We will then have a rough idea of how long the relevant authorities take to deal with some of the problems affecting our country.

Wait is over

Finally! On Wednesday, months after traffic lights were installed along Knutsford Boulevard, they were turned on. We thought the National Works Agency had forgotten about them.

Do you use Washington Boulevard at nights? Well, if you do, you may have experienced some difficulty avoiding the island in the centre of the road. As the headlights of oncoming vehicles shine in your direction, you get a 'light at the end of the tunnel' feeling, where all you see is a bright light. The section by Six Miles is especially dark, as there are no street lights under the bridge.

Luckily, this problem is not a difficult one to repair. A few tins of paint, and abracadabra! The light reflects the paint and the island is seen clearly.
