Mavado's case in court today

The Crown is to decide today whether it is pursuing the case brought in the Gun Court against dancehall artiste, Mavado.

He is facing charges of shooting with intent and illegal possession of a firearm.

When the deejay, whose real name is David Brooks, appeared in court yesterday, the court was told that the main witness was overseas.

Mr Justice Lloyd Hibbert ordered Mavado to return today for the Crown to make a decision in the matter.

The charges stem from an incident which took place on July 27, last year, on Mannings Hill Road, when two persons were shot.

Mavado was arrested after he turned himself over to the Major Investigation Task Force at its downtown offices. He is on bail in the sum of $200,000 with a surety.
