A vendor caught selling several pairs of fake Nike sneakers was fined $75,000 in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
Princess Smith pleaded guilty to 37 counts of breaching the Trademark Act last week and was sentenced Wednesday.
The court was told that in December last year, police went to the Metro Arcade in downtown Kingston where they seized scores of fake sneakers from the accused.
Her attorney told the court that she did not know they were fake and had purchased them to sell in her business.
After listening to the arguments presented by Smith's attorney, RM Glen Brown fined the accused $3,000 each or three months for the first 25 counts against her. He admonished and discharged her on the other 12 counts.
