Many law-abiding citizens are now pointing fingers at persons and organisations who they say are responsible for the the daily increase in crime over the last 10 years or more.
There are those who are blaming parents who have neglected their children and and as a result many of them have turned out to be hardened criminals.
Some are of the view that crime got out of hand because some of the persons in authority who should be upholding the law are also breaking the law.
A returning resident says right now people should put aside the "finger-pointing and stop playing the blame game " and unite to put an end to crime which is claiming many innocent lives.
"When I watched the television last week and saw how gunmen snuffed out the lives of those two young policemen I had to cry because they were only doing their duty," the returning resident said.
"Following the policemen's murder a soldier was killed by gunmen and just this week gunmen shot and killed two female teenagers at their home in Kingston.
"This list of people being murdered goes on and on. Murder is a daily occurrence now. It is no wonder investors do not want to come to Jamaica and Jamaicans overseas do not want to return home."
The returning resident said he returned home last year. He is now taking steps to sell his dream home and return to England where he had been living for the last 27 years.
"I am making a special plea for the citizens to give the police vital information so they can apprehend the wrongdoers and murderers. Just a phone call to the police will help," he said.
"But why has hanging stopped in Jamaica? Anyone who uses a gun to shoot and kill innocent people should be hanged as soon as they are convicted," the returning resident posited.
Although hanging is still a form of punishment in law and the judges are sentencing murder convicts to hang, the court orders are not being carried out. The Government will now have to make the decision as to whether hanging should resume.
However, many prisoners convicted of gun murder are not sentenced to hang because there is stipulation in the law as to when a murder convict can be sentenced to hang. If a gunman shoots an innocent person without robbing him, the gunman will not be sentenced to hang.
