Young Diamonds, early leaders in the new-look Manchester Division Two competition sponsored by Power Services Ltd., will take on Mile Gully in the feature match of this weekend's schedule.
Completing the schedule on Saturday are: Hillstars vs Hillview and Los Perfectos vs Young Strikers. On Sunday, Hope Village entertain Flavour and Royal Flat play hosts to Blue Mountain.
The competition departed from its traditional open registration policy to one geared at attracting young players with a mandatory stipulation of fielding eight Under-17 players on a match card and at least four at any one time on the field.
Resulting impact
The resulting impact is that several of the teams have annexed high school boys who are attached to teams that will prepare for the upcoming daCosta Cup competition.
Young Diamonds have a maximum six points after posting consecutive victories over Hillview (4-1) and Hillstars (1-0). Mile Gully have been limited to one victory over Royal Flat after losing to Blue Mountain 0-2.
Some interest is likely to surround Los Perfectos who bow into action for the first time this weekend. The team is coached by Marvin Tate, who guided Holmwood's daCosta Cup team last year. Their participation in this league appears to be a rebuilding agenda after having to exit senior competition in this past season's Confed Super League.
