Residents distance themselves from sisters' murder

The residents took to the streets, calling for more police patrol, as they say crime was getting out of hand in the area. Residents of FINch Crescent and Woodpecker Avenue, Kingston 11, are distancing themselves from the murder of the two sisters who were slain on Tuesday at their home on Henderson Avenue.

Yesterday, some residents took to the streets and vented their displeasure at the police who said the double murder was an act of reprisal.

The placard-bearing residents told THE STAR that as a result of the police's statement, they now feel marked for death as the risk of their being attacked has increased.

"A bait di police a bait up fi wi life cause dem go pon TV and radio go seh a we responsible fi di girl dem killing and we nuh know nuttin bout it," one irate resident said.

"Dem seh a man from bout yah kill di girl dem, dat only ago mek man tink fi come back come attack we," the resident further explained.

Nineteen-year-old Christina Brown and her 17-year-old sister, Lisa Brown, a student of the Tivoli Gardens Comprehensive High School, were gunned down about 4:50 p.m. on Tuesday, while they had a meal at home.

Investigators are theorising that the slaying of the teenage sisters may be linked to the fatal shootings of three persons last Wednesday in Seivwright Gardens, Kingston 11.

Head of the St Andrew South police, Superintendent Derrick 'Cowboy' Knight, said the police are now on the hunt for an individual from Finch Crescent, identified only as 'Wayne Marshall', in connection with the killing of the sisters.
