Drowned man recovered

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

Spanish Town

The body of a man who drowned in the Rio Cobre on Friday, surfaced yesterday, ending hours of searching by the local police and divers in St Catherine.

About 10 a.m. yesterday, the body of Kenroy Kentish, 22, was taken from the river by residents.

The recovery ended hours of searching by local divers, who were hampered by poor visibility on Saturday.

Police say about midday last Friday, Kentish was with two other persons in a Toyota Success motor car heading towards Spanish Town. The vehicle got out of control in the Bog Walk gorge and plunged into the river.

The two other occupants swam to safety but Kentish drowned.

Local divers and the Coast Guard could not find the body, which was seen afloat yesterday.
