The Half-Way Tree police have said that they are now analysing information they have been receiving from the public as they work towards establishing a clear motive and suspect for the daylight murder of cosmetologist, Sushania Young in front of York Plaza, Half-Way Tree, last week Monday.
Speaking with The Star yesterday, Deputy Superintendent McArthur Sutherland, officer in charge of crime at the St. Andrew South Police Division, said investigations into the crime have been going well, thanks to the assistance of the public. "The investigation is progressing quite well, we are getting a lot of cooperation from the public and we are following some leads," he said. "Right now we are looking towards establishing a clear motive for the crime."
On May 12, a gunman murdered Young, 25, in public view at York Plaza in Half-Way Tree shortly after 11 a.m. Initial police reports are that Young had received a telephone call from an anonymous source who instructed her to meet him/her at York Plaza.
When she arrived at the location, a man, unknown to her, beckoned her to walk over to him. While walking toward the man, he pulled a firearm and fired several shots at her. She tried to elude the gunman but fell and was subsequently shot in the head. The gunman escaped into the Hagley Park Road area.
