Higgler held with gun on Passagefort Drive

The St Catherine South Police were continuing their fight against the illegal gun trade when a 27-year-old higgler was caught with a pistol along the Passagefort Drive in Portmore on Monday.

According to CCN Liaison Officer Constable Verdal Wright, a police patrol spotted a Toyota motor car driven by Shaniel Rowe of West Cumberland in Portmore around 3 a.m.

The vehicle was stopped and search and a Ruger semi-automatic pistol found under the passenger seat. Rowe was subsequently charged with illegal possession of firearm and is booked to appear in the Spanish Town RM Court on May 27.

According to Constable Wright, the police are on an all-out drive to stem any illegal activities in the division and persons with criminal intent should keep out as no effort will be spared in prosecuting them.
