Party raids reap two guns

Dwayne Mcleod, Staff Reporter

The St Catherine South police seized two illegal guns within a hour and a half after raiding two parties.

Constabulary Communication Network liaison officer for the division, Constable Verdane Wright, reported that the first seizure was made at 2:30 yesterday morning as the police carried out an operation in sections of the division.

According to Constable Wright, the police raided a dance which was being held along the Gregory Park main road.

Reports are that a patron, 27-year-old Clayton McKenzie , a resident of 2 East in Greater Portmore, was stopped and searched and a Glock pistol with nine rounds of ammunition taken from him.

Further reports are that at 4:00 a.m., the police team raided another dance which was in progress along Casino Drive in Naggo Head.

During that raid, a patron identified as Andre Hall was searched and a sterling .380 pistol also with nine rounds of ammunition taken from him.

Both men were arrested and charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and are booked to appear in court on May 19.
