Gun taken from man at dance

Elgin Taylor, Freelance Writer

st catherine

The Old Harbour Police in St Catherine have recovered yet another firearm.

The latest find occurred about 4 a.m. on Sunday at a dance at Sterling Villa in the town when a patron, Robert McKoy, 26, was searched and a Glock .9 mm semi-automatic weapon, with 11 rounds of ammunition taken from him. He was subsequently arrested and charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Detective Sergeant Carey Duncan of the Old Harbour police, noted that violent crimes in the area have been trending upwards since the release on bail of certain notorious persons. However, he added that the police are committed to putting a lid on things and to making the town safe for law-abiding citizens.

This latest seizure is the fifth firearm seized in Old Harbour since January.
