Rising Stars fashion - Some like to shine while others keep it simple

Shacka Delly shows off the designs on his jacket and jeans pants for his chance at fame at the Rising Stars auditions which were held in Montego Bay at Club Inferno.

While some Rising Stars hopefuls were encouraged to work on their outfits to make an impact on judges, others who turned up at the third leg of The STAR-sponsored Digicel Rising Stars audition which was held at Club Inferno, were shining before they sang a note.

Many of the contestants who auditioned for a chance to be Jamaica's next Rising Star seemed more focused on hitting the right note rather than convincing the judges that they had the look of a star. As a result, jeans worn with simple shirts and tops prevailed.

Nevertheless, many contestants showcased superstar looks. Some claimed that looking fabulous comes naturally, and they hadn't gone out of their way to impress the judges. Dressed in a figure-hugging black dress complete with a wide brimmed red hat and handbag to match, Rowdean Kurasch-Macharzini told The STAR that she hadn't gone out of her way to impress judges with her dress. "This is just me," she said confidently.

Left: Rowdean Kurasch-Macharzini made quite a fashion statement when she auditioned for the Rising Stars competition. Right: Thalia Watson knows that it is important to dress for success so she made sure to look fabulous when she came out to audition for the third leg of the Rising Stars competition.

Similarly, Peter Bryson from Christiana, Manchester who was spotted wearing a brown shirt and brown dress shoes which made quite a statement, told The STAR, "I dress like this all the time, even better."

Wearing a pair of jeans with matching jacket embellished with bright red artwork and red dress shoes to match, Shacka Delly from Falmouth made everyone look twice. Knowing it is important for stars to make a fashion statement, Shacka Delly explained that he put together his ensemble specially to get the judges attention. Shacka Delly revealed that he is an artist and was responsible for the creative designs that were seen on his pants and jacket.

While some contestants went out of their way to ensure that their attire made a statement, it may not have been to their benefit. One gentleman from St James came clad in a vest tied with hanging strings and camouflage hat. The rastaman who sang a rendition of Freddy McKay's, Hanging on the Wall revealed to The STAR that he prepared the outfit specifically for the show. But he missed the mark, and would perhaps have been better off wearing the typical rising star audition fashion of a pair of jeans and a shirt.
