Newcomer Mandeville New Testament from the cool hills of Manchester advanced to the final of the Power of Faith Ministries Twenty/20 Church Cricket League following a 26-run win over a spirited Power of Faith Development team on Saturday at Lime Tree Oval in St Catherine.
Mandeville won the toss and batted and compiled 137-7 off 20 overs, with Brian Clarke, 40, and Christopher Gayle, 28, making most runs. The leading bowler for the Development team was Captain Leron Mattison with 3-26. The next best was Nicholas Richards with 2-12.
In reply, Power of Faith struggled early on with their top order batsmen making two ducks, one and two respectively. However, middle order batsman St. Aubyn Reynolds, made things interesting with his top score of 43, and received support from Dujon Elliston with 25, but the innings folded at 111. Gayle (2-16), and Kenny Blackwood (2-6) took most wickets for Mandeville.
This morning, Power of Faith Seniors will challenge Braeton New Testament in semi-final two, at the same venue, at 10:30 a.m., with the winner earning the right to meet Mandeville.
