Long jumper Jovanee Jarrett and 400 metres hurdler Markino Buckley were the only winners for Jamaica at the Conseil General de la Martinique track meet in Fort de France on Thursday.

Buckley, who had a disappointing run at the World Championships last year when he stopped early in the preliminary round of the 400m hurdles, did 49.08 seconds to capture the event.

Jarrett won the long jump with a leap of 6.85m. Unfortunately for her, however, the wind reading was plus 6.4 metres per second. Elva Goulbourne was fourth with 6.25m. National 100m hurdles champion and World bronze medallist, Delloreen Ennis-London was second in her pet event with a fast 12.54 as world leader Damu Cherry of the United States won in 12.47. Vonette Dixon finished fifth in a season best 12.80 while Andrea Bliss was seventh in 13.10.

There were third place finishes for Clora Williams, Nadine Palmer and Marvin Anderson.

Williams, sister of national 400m champion, Novlene Williams, posted a season-best 51.83 to take the runner-up spot in the one-lap event. Jamaican-born Debbie Dunn of the United States won in 51.24. World 4x400m silver medallist Davita Prendergast bounced back from a disappointing run at the Jamaica Invitational to finish third in 51.88.

Palmer, who has been showing steady progress this year was second in the 200m. Running in a plus 2.8 metres per second (mps) wind, she clocked 22.84 as American Muna Lee won in 21.91. Earlier, Palmer, with 11.39, ended fifth in the 100m as Lee took the double, winning in 11.10.

World 4x100m silver medallist Marvin Anderson was second in the 100m in 10.12 as Dwight Thomas took third in 10.14.

Shevon Stoddart also showed good form. She improved on her personal best in the 400m hurdles to finish third in 54.71. Lashinda Demus of the United States lowered her world-leading time to 53.99.

Herbert McGregor proved that his win at the Jamaica Invitational was no fluke as he went over the eight metres mark in the long jump. He finished fourth with a legal 8.08m.
