A 31-year-old Westmoreland man charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter after two passengers in his vehicle died when he collided with a utility pole, is to face a preliminary enquiry before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on June 3.
On Wednesday, the court was informed that the matter was ready for a preliminary enquiry as the outstanding accident reconstruction report had been placed on file.
Donovan Wallace, 31, a contact centre manager, was charged in relation to an accident on December 6, 2007 in which his vehicle collided with a utility pole, killing his colleagues Dean Morgan and Reginald McLean, both from Westmoreland.
It is alleged that on the night in question, Wallace was driving along the Montpelier main road, in St James, heading towards Westmoreland with his two co-workers, when he crashed into a utility pole. He was assisted from the vehicle by people in the area. The car subsequently burst into flames with his co-workers inside.
Wallace's $100,000 bail was extended and subpoenas were ordered for witnesses. The investigating officer and a witness who identified the bodies were bound over to attend court.
