Man accused of robbing students charged

One of three men who robbed several students of the Undergrad College, on Dunrobin Avenue, last week Friday, was officially charged on Thursday.

Charged with robbery with aggravation is David Alphios Douglas, an 18-year-old mechanic of Boone Hall Road, Golden Spring, St Andrew.

Reports are that last Friday at 11 a.m., Douglas, along with two other men, went on to the school's compound and entered a classroom. They reportedly robbed the students of their cellular phones and a portable playstaton game. The men then escaped by running to the back of the school. The students raised an alarm and the men were chased onto Red Hills Road, where they ran in different directions. Two of the men ran towards Half-Way Tree, while the accused ran towards Princeville Plaza. He was held and searched by two students along Constant Spring Road and some of the stolen items were retrieved.

Passers-by converged on the scene and administered a sound beating to Douglas. He was rescued by the police and taken to the Kingston Public Hospital. He was pointed out during an ID parade and was subsequently charged.

Investigating officer, Constable Gosford Daley from the Half-Way Tree CIB is warning robbers to stay away from students. "Once they are held, they will be dealt with according to law." He said the other men were still being sought.
