A section of Kew Road, St Andrew. - File
AS PART of our mission to be the People Paper, THE WEEKEND STAR has been highlighting problem areas across the island. Our reporter, Carolyn Johnson, along with photographer Norman Grindley, will focus on a particular area until the problem is fixed. Now we will have a rough idea of how long the relevant authorities take to deal with some of the problems affecting our country.
Well, today we are glad to report that the streetlights along Mandela Highway, near the Caymanas crossing, have been repaired. We thank the Jamaica Public Service for their speedy response in repairing the lights and responding to our queries.
If only the streetlights on the toll road could also be addressed.
On another note, Kew Road in St Andrew continues to deteriorate. As each day passes, more stones are exposed leaving the avenue resembling a dry riverbed, or a cliff's edge with jutting sharp rocks. The only thing preventing children from gathering by the holes when they are filled with water is the brown colour. We're sure they are deep enough for swimming.
This path needs urgent attention.
In the meantime, we await some attention from the road-patching programme, which started in late March.
