We're back! THE STAR poll is here once again and dare we say, better than ever. We 'hit' the streets with all the juiciest questions about sex, obeah, music, religion and much more and now we're ready to give you the results. Prepare to be shocked and amused like never before.

Capital punishment is often suggested as a potential solution to the problem of the crime that seems to be taking over the country. Although some people believe this is where the answer lies, there are many others who believe that 'fighting fire with fire' is not a good approach. We wanted to get a better idea of how people felt about this issue, so we asked:

Do you think the government should bring back capital punishment and start hanging murderers again?

Here's what we were told:

Yes 79% (796)

No 18% (181)

Don't know 3% (30)

A whopping 79 per cent of respondents said they wanted the Government to reintroduce capital punishment. This is no surprise as there are many people who truly believe that capital punishment is the way to go. These people believe that such a stringent measure will act as a deterrent to those involved in crime and will show them that there are repercussions for their actions.

On the other hand, 18 per cent believe that capital punishment should not be put into practise as it would be encouraging a culture of violence and not forgiveness.

The poll was conducted on January 28-29 by Johnson Survey Research Limited

Sample size: 1,008 residents
