At first glance, you could never tell that Dennis and Devon Golding were twins. They are not identical and other than the fact that they both work for the same company, like the same colour and music genre, there aren't many similarities to link them.
Constant reminder
Dennis, the older one, is more stockily built than his brother, Devon, and of a darker compexion. In his words, sometimes he has to be reminded that he has a twin brother. "Sometimes it's a bit funny, because since we are not identical. I have to be reminded by my mother that we are twins," he chuckled. "Even now, some people don't believe when we tell them that we are twins. They expected us to look the same, I guess."
When asked who was the
troublemaker growing up, Devon, the quiet one, gave out a chuckle, so it was fair to conclude that it was him. "Well, my mother said I used to beat up Dennis, still," he said. "But I don't remember that."
Not surprisingly, Mervilyn McLean, the proud mother of both men, confirmed Devon's story. "Devon gave more trouble than Dennis," she said, laughing. "But overall, they were good babies; they are good boys." McLean said she was not disappointed in any way that her prized twins were not identical. In fact, she joked, it only made raising them easier as she could tell them apart.
The twins were born on February 29, 1976, a leap year. Dennis joked that they celebrate their birthday every four years, but both men say they opt to celebrate on March 1. Luckily, 2008 is a leap year so confetti fell on February 29.
