'Marital murder' case to continue

Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer

Spanish Town

The preliminary enquiry into the murder case against Angella Wilson, who is charged with the killing of her common-law husband, will continue on May 30 in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court.

Wilson is charged with the 2006 murder of her common-law husband, Charles Patterson.

When the matter came up for mention yesterday, the Crown took evidence from several witnesses, who claimed that Patterson's body was taken from a pit latrine in Old Harbour Bay days after he went missing. They also added that the body was partially burnt.

Having heard some of the witnesses, RM Lorna Errar and the defence agreed that the case could continue later. Meanwhile, Wilson was granted $200,000 bail after attorney-at-law Peter Champagnie made a successful application.

Allegations are that on November 27, 2006, residents of Old Harbour Bay started to search for Patterson, 29, after he was reported missing days earlier. His partially burnt body was taken from the pit latrine in the back of the yard where Patterson and Wilson lived at the time. She was later charged with his death.
