WHAT IT'S ABOUT: In this 79-minute animation, Dalmatian Pongo lives in London with his owner (or pet as he puts it), Roger. He is tired of bachelor life but knows his 'pet' Roger won't do anything to change it anytime soon as he is also a bachelor.

But, his luck changes when he meets Pedita and Roger meets Anieta. Sometime later, they become a family and Pedita becomes pregnant. Enter Cruella De Vil, one of fairy tales most popular villainess'. She is determined to get her hand on the 15 pups Pedita has given birth to but is told to wait a further three weeks after the pups are born. After all, she needs to continue wearing her quality furs. Cruella's determination shows itself when she is even prepared to purchase the pups.

When her offers are rejected, Cruella hires dolts Horace and Jasper to kidnap the pups. The pups are taken to an abandoned house where they meet up with 84 other puppies.

Pongo meanwhile works with scores of other dogs and animals across the country to locate and rescue the pups. He succeeds but Cruella and her dolts are hot on their heels. In order to be reunited with their owners, all 101 Dalmatians must battle the weather and a cruel chase which is rife with danger.

LONG STORY SHORT: When Disney DVD decided to reissue this classic 40 years after it was first shown in theatres, they must have known it would still be a favourite. And, four decades on, 101 Dalmatians is still a good story that will be enjoyed by both adults and children.

The plot is not too simple for adults but is not too complicated for children which helps in making it enjoyable and shows that some cartoons or movies never age. Overall, 101 Dalmatians is a good watch.

THE REEL LOWDOWN: If you liked Little Mermaids, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast you will certainly like this.
